Breaking The Silence

Ara Cruz (Xicano/Mexica/Tiwa) is a spoken word artist, educator, and organizer from Denver. Graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a B.A. in Ethnic Studies (emphasis in Chicana/o and American Indian Studies), Ara used the experience he gained in campus organizing through UMAS y MEChA, Oyate, and other organizations to co-found Café Cultura and currently serves as Director. For several years, he has taught numerous spoken word workshops for youth and performed at secondary schools, conferences, universities, and community events.
